The Holiday Gift Guide

Hopefully, most of you will read the title of this post and think-

'Holiday Gift Guide? On the 14th of December? But I'm already done all my shopping!'.

Hopefully. However, if you're like me, and you're not quite done yet, you might need a little help.

I think that people either love to shop for gifts, or they absolutely hate it. I'm in the 'love' category. Gift giving is a sort of hobby of mine. I enjoy the whole process, from sitting around over a cup of tea and trying to come up with unique ideas that will thrill the gift recipient, to wandering from shop to shop searching for that very item.

So without any more musings on the joys of gifting, here is my little Holiday Gift Guide:

1.  Tinware Pie Plate, Colander (and other cookware) from Indigo

I love this vintage chic cookware. Not only is it useful in the kitchen, but the bright white enamel with the bold cerulean strip (anyone remember the retro tin cookware with the red rim?) is pretty enough to hang on a hook or display on the countertop.

Prices vary, $15- $35.

2.  Rosy-Cheeked Coupes (Set of 2)

On New Year's Eve, why not drink pink Champagne in pink Champagne glasses? I love the sweet and delicate nature of this fine glassware. Give them to the person on your list who appreciates beautiful things.

$68 for the set.

3. Kate Spade Drink Tags

Like the first two items on this list, these striking black and white tags have a retro appeal. Gift them with a nice bottle of wine or some cheeky liquor (think Kraken black spiced rum or cake flavoured vodka).  A perfect gift for the 'entertainer' on your list.

$16 for ten tags.

Buy them in-store at most large Indigo locations, or order from Amazon.

Hint: Take this gift to the next level by adding a vintage crystal decanter to the tags and liquor. Look for one at your local Value Village (they run about $3 - $20).
4.  Bone Handled Cheese Knives and Olive Wood Cheese Board

Who isn't a 'foodie' these days? I can barely think of one person that I know who doesn't appreciate fine food and drink.

Great dinner fare has escaped the fine dining echelon is available to the masses! Give a gorgeous olive wood cheese board (from Indigo) and these fine bone handled cheese knives (William Sonoma) to the person on your list who loves a piece of gooey, creamy, delightful brie cheese (so, everyone on your list).

Knives, $51.31 for four.
Board,  $34.50.

5. Glass Cake Stand with Domed Lid

This pretty glass cake stand from Ikea makes a fantastic gift for anyone who loves to bake. The stand has a lovely scalloped edge and the glass dome has a cute little button handle, just like a good cloche should.

Arv Brollop Cake Stand, $19.99.

Order it from Ikea or just pick it up at any Ikea store.

6. White Knitted Throw Blanket

Another Ikea find (the prices are just so reasonable!), this cable-knit creamy throw will go with any decor and will keep toes warm.

Annbritt Throw, $29.99.

Order it online  or buy at an Ikea location.

7. Deco Tower Drop Earrings

These art deco style crystal earrings are just so fantastically lovely, I can't even take it! Somehow they remind of the Eiffel Tower... and they'd be perfect for any lady with a pair of ears to adorn.

They are also from BHLDN, which is a bridal shop (online and in the US). I think that the items they sell are tremendously nice, and it's hard to go wrong when shopping the site. Don't let the word 'bridal' scare you away, the BHLDN wares are just the thing for parties and other occasions.

If you wander over to the site, take a look at the Cortina Earrings, they're a bit more pricey at $250, but they are to die for!

Deco Tower Drops, $80.

Get them online from BHLDN.

This is not a long list, but if you're trying to finish off the last of your shopping, I hope these ideas will help. They are broad-appeal, beautiful gifts for all the loved ones on your list.

And, yes, most of them do have something to do with food and drink, but who doesn't love good some grub and libations over the holidays?
