The Little Things

Just wanted to write a short post today to highlight some of the changes on the blog and to give a little update about what's been going on around here. In regards to the blog, you may have noticed the categories across the top of the main page. I have always wanted to make the blog more user friendly, and categorizing the posts so that you can access the subjects that interest you the most, has been on my to-do list for quite some time. This month, Chris took the big job on, and he had it done in a matter of days! The 11th apartment feels so organized, and I love it! Now the only thing left on my list of things to do is a custom header. Over the past few months, I've been working on designing a logo for the 11th, and I recently finalized the design. Unfortunately, I don't know anything about graphics or illustration (especially web design based) and so if anyone could point me in the right direction (Maybe you know a graphic designer that likes to do favours, Just kidding, I have like twenty bucks!) I would truly appreciate it!

Well, that pretty much sums up what's new on the blog. I have lots of DIY projects to share in the next month, as well as some fun canning posts and of course, some more photos of our crazy apartment.

As for what is new with us, I had a wonderful birthday weekend with lots of family, friends and food! I received such thoughtful gifts! Everyone obviously knows me very very well. Chris made me an incredibly good lemon tart (dare I say, it was even better than the Dufflet lemon tart) and we had homemade fettuccine with zucchini flowers! My mom and dad brought us loads of wild blueberries freshly picked at camp, and we quickly canned four jars of blueberry syrup!

Blueberry syrup! So easy to can, it only takes an hour from start to finish.

Chris gave me a Fuji 'Polaroid' camera!
I used black washi tape to make a display on the fridge.

Making the light fixture for our kitchen. Messy but fun.

Now, suddenly it feels like fall is in the air, and yes, it's early, but I can't say I mind. I am so excited to enter the season of canning and baking, of scarves and wooly sweaters and boots! And I will be sure to keep you posted on what fall brings to this house!
